While at the University of North Texas, Ms. Wilson is studying conducting with the world class musician and
conductor Anshel Brusilow, who is the former Music Director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and is also the former concertmaster
of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy., Her teachers have included such distinguished conductors and teachers
as Jesus Lopez-Cobos, former Music Director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra; Gustav Meier, world famous conducting teacher;
Christopher Zimmerman; and Wayne Wyman. In workshops she has conducted for well
known artists such as Kenneth Kiesler, Carl St. Claire, Larry Rachleff, Tsung Yeh, and Christopher Wilkins.
Ms. Wilson began her musical training in Florida where she was born. Formal
study in conducting began at the University of South Florida, and continued while at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory
of Music (CCM). Much of Ms. Wilson’s early experience was conducting opera
with the stars of tomorrow in productions at CCM. She conducted the Undergraduate
Opera Project in a production of Die Fledermaus, with Sandra Bernhart of the San Francisco Opera directing. She conducted Eugene Onegin with Jonathon Eaton of New York City Opera directing, who has staged this opera
for the Bolshoi. Also she was the assistant conductor for a production
of Beatrice and Benedict with Malcolm Frasier directing, which won First Prize from the National Opera Association. Her first formal conducting job was as assistant conductor of Opera in the Ozarks, where she learned the
nuances of working with large forces and a large amount of repertoire. More recently,
she was the assistant conductor to Victoria Bond with the Harrisburg, PA Opera in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro.
Currently Ms. Wilson resides in Denton, TX where she studies conducting, conducts the UNT
Repertoire Orchestra, is the associate conductor with the Flower Mound Community Orchestras, guest conducts, cover conducts,
and refines her skills at workshops. Recently she guest conducted the Londontowne
Symphony Orchestra in Maryland on its inaugural season. Since she is interested
in developing tomorrow’s musicians, she has also worked with the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra Association as the
assistant conductor. Besides conducting, she has also studied clarinet performance,
composition, piano, and opera coaching. Her career goals include conducting professional
orchestras and operas, as well as teaching conducting to upcoming generations.
